Translation is an artform - so is delivering on time

Notarised translations in English or Slovene

Notarised translation is required by law when filing any translated document with any government office or regulative body in Slovenia, including the Securities Market Agency, the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office, all the ministries, courts and local administrative units. It may also be required by foreign official and government bodies as well as for company board meetings.

When notarised translation is required, the original document and the translated file are bound together in a hardcopy. Each page is stamped with a translator’s notarisation seal, and sealed and signed by the translator who thereby attests that the translated text is an accurate and consistent rendering of the original document.

It is important to note that the original document does not have to be given to us in its original copy as the translator’s certification does not extend to certifying the authenticity of the original document. These powers rest with a notary. It is the translated file, bound together with the original document or its copy that has to be in original which is evidenced by the Slovenian national string and the original translator’s seal, signature and statement and hance has to be produced in a hardcopy.

A notarised translation is also referred to as a court translation, a certified translation, a sworn translation or an official translation. Most frequently notarised documents are:

  • Extracts from the Companies Court Register
  • Investment fund prospectuses
  • Initial public offerings
  • Agreements and contracts
  • Enclosures to tender documentation
  • Annual reports
  • Passports
  • Birth certificates
  • Marriage certificates
  • Diplomas
  • Power of attorney
  • Certificate of non-impunity
  • Police reports
  • Medical records
